Poe's works are mainly based on fiction. However,  even though they are fictitious, his stories do have a scientific background. Poe's works are based on science both, implicitly and explicitly. Hence we can say that Poe's works were based on the genre of science fiction. Since our theme is Life Sciences, we will also focus on the links with Life Sciences. Let us consider some of Poe's works and analyze how they had a scientific background. A complete analysis related to this research question is done using Poe's short stories- "The Murders in The Rue Morgue" and "Some Words With a Mummy" .

In his works, we see that Poe has referred to various fields of sciences. Among these fields, we found the field of Life Sciences to be the most intriguing. Life Sciences is a broad field and consists of many branches. In our research we are focusing on the various branches of Life Sciences that Poe has referred to in his works.
