Poe and Life Science

Poe and Life Science

Picture
Edgar Allan Poe (January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849) was an American author, poet, editor and literary critic, considered part of the American Romantic Movement. Poe's works were mainly based on mystery and horror. Some of his works have been proven to be hoaxes. From our research on Poe and his works, we have concluded that although Poe's works are those of fiction, they do have a scientific background in some way or the other. This may be because of the surge in scientific inventions and the mindset of people about various fields of science in the nineteenth century.
The main topic of our research is Poe and Life Sciences. In our website, we have presented about how some of  Poe's works pertain to the field of Life Sciences. We have carried on an in-depth analysis of Poe's works and the meaning behind them, and how they are connected to Life Sciences.
In our website, we have used a few primary as well as secondary sources as evidence for our research. We have also used pictures as well as a video to give our website a more interactive basis. The website is consistent in its design and has a dark background to give an effective feel about Poe and his connection to horror, hoaxes and pseudosciences, along with their relationship with life sciences. Navigating through the website is very easy. Clicking on the tabs in the bar above would give you an introduction and specific research questions related to Poe. These tabs contain links which would lead you to a page containing a detailed analysis based on the research question.
